The ÉALÚ-AER project contributed to the demonstration of Ireland’s first all-electric aircraft flight, conducted by BETA Technologies at Shannon Airport. The flight highlighted the potential of sustainable aviation technologies and provided an opportunity to discuss the future of advanced air mobility in Ireland.
During the event, the ÉALÚ-AER team engaged with BETA Technologies on the integration of eVTOL operations into Irish airspace, focusing on how U-space Service Providers (USSPs) can ensure safe and automated airspace management for electric aircraft. These discussions emphasised the importance of scalable digital infrastructure and regulatory coordination to support the transition to low-emission air transport.
Building on its experience in developing drone infrastructure in Ireland, ÉALÚ-AER demonstrated how its network of landing sites, communication systems, and data integration tools can be adapted to support eVTOL automation and charging solutions, including at the planned Shannon hub.
