Adjusting UAS capacity based on demand and social/environmental impact.

Future unmanned aerial system (UAS) operations will populate urban and suburban environments by providing new services such as parcel transportation. This scenario could produce a significant social impact along with a high collision probability.

The solution proposes a dynamic capacity management (DCM) service to accommodate a higher number of unmanned aerial system (UAS) operations in U-space airspaces. This service will monitor traffic demand and check capacity limitations to assess whether it is necessary to implement local demand and capacity balancing (DCB) measures. Some of these measures may increase capacity, while others may reduce it without negatively impacting society or unmanned aerial system (UAS) operators.

The DCM service will have an impact across the whole drone industry, including unmanned aerial system (UAS) manufacturers, unmanned aerial system (UAS) operators, U-space service (USS) providers, and common information system (CIS) providers, supporting market growth. Moreover, citizens and society will benefit from the increased safety and sustainability of U-space services, particularly through the social and environmental impact reduction model provided by the solution.
