Following the successful achievement of TRL2, the SMARTS project is entering its final dissemination phase. In this context, we are pleased to invite you to the SMARTS Final Dissemination Workshop, which will take place on 28 January. During the workshop, we will present the progress made and the key results obtained throughout the project.
The workshop will be held in a hybrid format, allowing participants to join either onsite at CRIDA in Madrid or online. During the session, we will provide a comprehensive overview of the SMARTS concept, showcase the exercises performed in PUZZLE and RNEST, and offer an in-depth explanation of the main technical components, including the Basic Volume Algorithm, Clustering & Sector Profiling, and Sector Design & Configuration. The event will conclude with a final wrap-up and discussion.

Key conclusions from the project
The SMARTS project has demonstrated significant potential to enhance ATM performance by improving demand–capacity balancing, increasing cost and resource efficiency, reducing sector overloads, and supporting more punctual and predictable operations. Tools such as PUZZLE DCB and R-NEST have proven both technically feasible and operationally valuable. Additionally, the integrated SMARTS models — from flow clustering to adaptive airspace structuring and sector configuration — have shown strong capability to better align traffic patterns with airspace design and to deliver more resilient, balanced, and efficient sectorisation solutions.
