TOUR 2: EU Green Deal - advancing sustainability in ATM

How can air traffic management help aviation meet Europe’s Green Deal ambitions? This walking tour showcases SESAR’s flagship research tackling aviation’s environmental footprint through smarter flight operations.

From eco-optimised descents and dynamic arrival management to wake energy retrieval, contrail mitigation and noise-reducing approach procedures, participants will discover how innovative ATM solutions are helping aircraft fly cleaner, quieter and more efficiently. Through showcasing demonstrations, trials and validation results, the tour highlights how collaboration between aircraft, airports and controllers can unlock meaningful reductions in fuel burn, noise and climate impact.
