An orchestrator for eco-friendly trajectories
In accordance with the European Aviation Green Deal, European aviation committed to a roadmap towards net zero emissions by 2050, part of which addresses the measures that are to be applied in air traffic management. As of today, in the European Airspace a significant number of flights could take advantage of flight path improvement opportunities which would contribute to the reduction of aviation’s environmental impact.
Supported by an innovative tool: the Orchestrator, the Solution will maximise the opportunity for CO2 reduction thanks to a reduction in operational ATFM constraints by detecting and operating eco-friendly timeslots in en-route.
The solution provides a means to:
- assist local traffic managers in the detection of eco-friendly time slots per ACC and between ACCs (area control centres), managing dynamically existing, well-known constraints, in accordance with the evolution of ATC real capacity and identifying the eco-friendly procedures to promote with regards to the capacity requirements of the days;
- assist airspace users (AUs) in seizing the flight path optimization opportunities created by ATM’s strategical eco-friendly time slots;
- enhance information and coordination exchange between local flow managers from adjacent ACCs, between local flow managers and AUs during pre-tactical and tactical phases.
BENEFITS
- Reduced fuel consumption and CO2 emissions
- Improved operational efficiency of flights
